A Day In The Life Of Ocean!!!

Day 1 Monday

Setting: Multi purpose, Subject: Prize Giving.

It's nearing the end of our school days and the edge of the Christmas holidays. Prize giving was a banger seeing the people get prizes for what they have done and their effort has extremely been noticed. When we lined up outside, I wondered if I would get a prize. It doesn't matter though, even if your effort doesn't get noticed, you should know have done unnoticeable BUT still great things throughout the year. 

As we walked towards the place where prize giving will be held my thoughts grew inside my head. We finally made it to the door step of the multi purpose room. We all stepped one foot inside and another to get to the main room. 

We all sit down having a little chatter before all went quiet. Our principal, Mrs Hamilton, started talking about why we are here and what we are doing, basically she was doing a speech. After the speech for our principal, we sang the national anthem, school karakia and waiata. Prize giving started ( photo's shown at the end). 

Here are all of the prize giving winners in one picture. Trophies, books, certificates and chocolate necklaces given to the prize winners. All I have to say is my hopes were high then was quickly depleted but I came out with a happy heart at least :D

NASA Edition Coloring Book Picture

 

Today for our cyber smart lesson we did another coloring book image. We got to choose which one we do like always and went along as ordinary. This is my image I colored and tried to make it as close as possible to the original. A computer generated a scene which gave the point of view of a space crew member looking out the cupola looking towards earth. It looks cool and I'd say i'm proud of it though it is simple. I hope you liked this post :D.

A week in the life of Ocean C. at Ruapotaka

21st Monday November Week 6 

After school: 

 

I actually don't know if your school gives out free milk but all I can say is that Ruapotaka School does. As usual we are doing our little routine of packing up our classroom and getting ourselves ready to go home a what seemed to be box with milk sitting on a white tabletop where our cleaning and stationary supplies stayed. Turns out we got to take the milk home and to our surprise the milk was PAST it's best before date. Our teacher advised that the milk was still good to drink but make sure you drink it when it is nice and cold. We had a nice little warning sign there. I wanted to take 2 maybe to see if my mother would accept whats given. My little sister had gotten 1 afterwards in her class. For all I know though is my mother ain't accepting that again...

22nd Tuesday November Week 6

Middle block:

A ordinary day was planned for us like always with our cyber smart teacher Mr. Goodwin came in but on our google meet call. We call had to join but stay away from each other so our devices won't put words back and forth creating a harsh screeching noise. What Mr. Goodwin had presented was a task from our summer learning journey SLJ. It was a coloring book and most likely our first task of SLJ. We all were coloring our own pictures and some did the same but myself and renei, my friend worked as a team. Sorry I can't show the picture because I didn't download it. We all presented our work and gotten nice compliments. Sure was fun to be back wit Mr. Goodwin and do something most of us liked.

23rd Wednesday November Week 6

Tech:

Hard materials. I'd say that time was my very first time I've been to my tech class in ages. A abundance of foam was sent to us along with a rubber band and a paper with our names on it. We were making masks for our learning and we could make it anything. Our teacher Mr. Grundy was showing us how to make the mask. The weird part was making the paper pattern because your shoving a piece of paper in your face.

Apparently we were only making the paper and turns out i make a mask without the nose piece. People seemed to like it though as it looked very funny. I tried making a funny mask but people said it looked like a batman mask. That makes me happy.

25th Friday November Week 6

Morning baking!!!:

Here's something we don't always get to do only if we have the time out of learning. Lolly cake was what we were baking or others were baking because me and my friend was chilling in our seats. I bet they think we helped with 50% of the recipe 0_0 . I helped with crushing the Malt biscuits and turned them into crumbs and from where I was I saw my friends Renei and Malachi was cutting marshmallow styled lollies into thirds and sixths and once they were done they put them into the crumbs and rolled it up into a log and rolled the log in coconut. I don't remember what type. I actually don't know what they did for the apple cake but it was good :D.

Same day: Water slide

Me and Sunny was waiting in the staff room for our teacher Mr. N. Our neighbor room 1 and our class went to the water slide. Unfortunately we and Sunny didn't want to go. When Mr. N came in he offered us cards. A card game of Monopoly DEAL and basic cards. We chose to play DEAL. It was complicated indeed as we sat in the grass wondering how to play. We had to get help from Mr. N then we got the basics down then we could start playing. We got a small group of people of 1 watching us and it was room 1's teaching Mrs. Cardoza! It feels nice to have a person watching and nice to see Sunny win. He was hesitant about the match but he won in the end. He even called it! We went back got the lolly cake and the apple cake and went home.

End credits is don't read the whole thing but i suggest reading Morning baking and when we was coloring with Mr. Goodwin. I hope you are having a wonderful day reader and I hope you enjoyed :D.

Back to school article by Ocean

After what felt like years of being in lockdown, many schools were allowed to reopen and welcome back the children to school. Days, weeks and months went by and some never noticed. The downside to this is that school is not going to be normal like in the past. We have to abide by the rules that have been given to us by the government to stay safe. A majority of people (including myself) have been waiting for this day to come by and knock on our doorsteps, waiting for an answer.

It won't be the school time we used to know but we are still grateful for the day. Teachers are eager to see the smiles upon their students faces as they return to class. People are extremely excited and dedicated to be back at school and to see their long known friends. Finally we can now interact without the need of a device nor a screen. 

You will hear happiness in the air and see the joy within their hearts. Teachers giving their students a warm welcome.

Hello again. I am posting another wordle but this time it is about me. I did something different in my other wordle. If you don't know what a wordle is, please go look at my previous blog post. If you do then you wont need a description about what is a wordle. 

This task was suppose to describe a real-life person and not a made up character. I didn't get in trouble doing my last post - my teacher was still ok with my work. 

I like wordles because you can go anywhere with it but this is only positives about me. 

I like this because it really describes me but these is the positives, just saying.

Room 7 Class Blog

Today for reading I created a wordle. If you ask what this is, it a turns a story into mixed up words. I created one about Bobby (he is not real and is not a real person but a lot of people are aimed Bobby). He had a rough day and this wordle is describing what is happening. The story will be at the bottom of the wordle.

Bobby glances out of his window turning more pale by the second. He watches as rubbish glides across the wet road and past the empty paths. Bobby turns towards his bed and wraps himself in his blanket. He looks depressed after what has happened today in his life. He's petrified and scared but determined to make it through the night. He might be able to slumber through the bright sunny day. His eyes start to close inch by inch, Bobby tries to stay up longer until his eyes close shut and he starts to sleep. He awakens in the morning ready to start the day.

I like this task but I described the surroundings more than our friend Bobby here and I don't know if you were suppose to do a real person or make one up. I might have to do this again but I will post two blogs about this if I have to.

Cybersmart Challnge 25#!!! Attributing images.

 Today for cybersmart we create our work with images we use online while giving credit to the person who has created the picture. If you want ot find this pictures then search up your image. Under the hot bar on google when you serch click on tools and usage rights then creative common lisences

Once you do these steps clitck the image you want. Scroll down on the website and look for the person who made it. The title and the lisence type.Here is how I did it along with everyone else. We all didn't do the same things because we were free to choose.

This is my work from last week and I would like to share some of my awnsers to these 8 questions. I really enjoyed this and there were more pro's than cons to this text ( but I am only showing the questions but there will be some texts found). I like this text because this tells a lot about television and if it is helpful or not.This text says if it will educational because of documantaries about animals and how much kids can learn abour the world  or the kid shows that teach kids about different subjects.

They say that they can learn different varieties of skills learnt at school from television and that television lets children learn about the world around them if you don’t have enough to travel from country to country or you just can’t go outside.

He would be writing to people's parents saying let your children watch television for educational purposes only.

Children can learn about the world around them because of documentaries. For example there could be one of the largest sea mammals or the most dangerous land creature in the world.And also only some kids are fortunate enough to be able to travel around the world but some are stuck in there homes.So that is where the television comes in.Teachers can show this in their classroom, showing the kids animals without actually being there!

There are some ups and downs when it comes to television because you could go on different shows then kid shows.You could watch movies on televisions and get distracted because of how entertaining it is.Television is a good way to watch many shows without it being good for the human brain.I would say let your parents pick the show for you.

Television is educational though having many shows for kids.A majority of them has school subjects.This means that television is pretty much your digital school.Some is based on math, some on reading so on and so on.I would recommend you watch some animal documentaries because you learn about them as the article said.

I liked how this has turned out. I am pretty proud.

Science Topic: Blood Rate

Today in science tech class, me and my friends were researching about your heart rate.Our teacher Mrs. Sharma gave us questions to awnser while we were researching.We were given smart watches to trace the heart rate and we were given stop watches to track the time.Here is what we were supposed to do.

The stop watch was to keep track of time for how long we were doing the activitues and the max was for 30 seconds.At the very end I broke the cycle we were using maybe because I was too far back...We took turns writing results on our own chart.We had questions and here are our results.

These are the awnsers for our questions and I like this turned out.My friends I was working out (Aleki and Texas) and I want to come back. :)

Learning In Term 2 ( So Far )

Algerbra 

Algerbra is fun and our releiver Mrs. Allan was leading our math time while our teacher was away.For the past 2 weeks I started to learn algerbra starting from level 1.It was pretty easy but when I got to level 3 things began to make me confused.Some might already know this but there was 3x+4=2x+9.Our reliever taught me how to do algerbra level 3 and it is kind of more complicated.

This turns out how you work it out.We used transum a math website to do these math equations.After I passed the level 3 algerbra I looked on to level 4.

It took me a while to figuer this out.It was fun learning about algerbra and I really liked it.I would like to thank Mrs. Allan for teaching me.

REFUGEE Task 4 : Fidel Castro (President Of Cuba)

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was a Cuban revolutionary, lawyer and also politician who was the official leader of Cuba from 1959 to 2008. Serving as the prime minister of Cuba from 1957 to 1976 and president from 1959 to 2008.

Fidel Castro was born on 13 August 1926 and died on 25 November 2016. Where was he born youask? He was born in Biran, Oriente. He rests at Santa Ifigenia Cemetery. He was a lawyer with 9 children (in total). He had relatives, 7 sisters and 5 brothers. In the book REFUGEE he took part not letting anyone leave until one day (or night) he told his people on the T.V that now they can leave.

Topic 9: The Senses Of The Tongue

 

Today at tech we were taste testing different samples.We kind of had fun.We were excited to what we were tasting wondering if it will be delicous but it slowly changed.Some of us ran out the door, running everywhere after tasting most of the bitter samples.Science is cool though.I still like it even after what happen.(Me, Dj and Aleki is standing (I am sitting) in this photo).

My Secondary Poem For Poetry Recitle : Night's Shadow

 The Night’s Shadow

When the night sky’s gone my confidence fades with it 

And while silence slowly disappears, chaos rises inside of me.

As i rest my head upon my pillows of my bed I slowly start to drift away

All hope is lost and fear rises within my brain.

Shadows scream and terror fills my body controlling my conscience   

So I try to fight the demons inside of me.

When the night falls

It’s not dark outside that scares me

It’s being alone with my thoughts 

And the darkness inside of me.

I look towards the sky seeing the dark gray clouds

And rain starting to fly

As the night’s shadow stalks me on a distant hill

Disappearing in plain sight 

And then all of a sudden a get a devastating chill over my body 

As the shadow walks by

It’s not the thoughts in my mind that scare me now

It’s the myth that the night’s shadow consumed me with the darkness.

I can’t see anything but myself

But all slowly starts to fade away.

End Of Term 2 Weekly Things.....

 What are you goals for next term?:

-Getting back to my reading level in yr 6 ( my reading level is higher in yr 6 then now) or above.
-Doing maths above my level such as 8-13 so I can atleast be ahead.
-Writing poems and speeches at a high level by using better punchuation and vocabulary.
-Doing sience and knowing more...

What are your wins this term?:

-Getting through my work without a chromebook at home.
-Having a can-do attatude in class.
-Getting close to the central idea of caged bord and atleast making progress.

-Getting things done without a chrome book  because my pc ain't working.

Sience At Tech

 I am celery and celery is me.We did an exprement today and I am late for blogs at tech.The is topic 7 and we are soing Osmosis and Transpiration.For this task we used Flasks (idk what kind) and put water in there and put in red and blue food colouring.We cut the bottom of the celery and put the celery in.We out on a plastic bag over the leaves and teid it with a twist tie.We has an example and here is the Xylem which we are aiming for.This was fun : ) .

24 Hour Digital Foot Print:Beach Wonder.

 

This is my digital footprint on a beach.I didn't do much the past hour but its still good.I enjoyed this a bit. For this task we had to go on our history and see what we did for the past 24 hours.I did google slides x 8, my gmail, google for prototec,prototec,my google drive,google docs,ruapotaka school room 7 site and google meet practice.

Literacy: Caged Bird - central idea and tone

This was fun doing this with friends but I got a tad bit annoyed with the group.We worked together and this is what we came up with.We checked this before we posted.Hope you enjoy.

Caged Bird Central Idea and Tone 

Focus: Critical Questions for Understanding Poet’s Purpose - Useful link 

LI: identify and critique the author’s intention for writing; identify symbols and inferences in writing; 

SC: identify tone; diction; poetic devices; describe impact or intended effect. 

Identify the speaker of the poem: The speaker of the poem is the caged bird who sings for freedom but is not heard/ignored as he longs for still for the day to come.

What is the speaker’s tone?

The speaker is speaking in a negative tone as the caged bird is singing with a fearful trill and seldom seeing through his bars of rage.(Those are holding him back).There are 4- paragraphs and 2+ paragraphs.

What vocabulary is used (diction), which reveals the speaker’s tone?

The negative vocab it has is how the caged bird is singing/ with a fearful trill and the bars of rage.His feet are tied so he can’t lift off and his wings are clipped which this all reveals the tone.There is more i can’t say

What is the connotation, implied or true meaning of each word ?: 

The meaning of Grave of dreams is a dream that will never come true such as they are exploring but they are trapped in something like inside a huge wall and can’t get out.Singing with a fearful trill means the voice of the bird is modified like a seagulls but with a lot more fear to it.

What stanzas are repeated? 

Stanza 3 and 6 are repeated showing how much the caged bird wants freedom but the caged bird can not have it as the caged bird is being ignored over and over again singing to be heard one day. 

Why are they repeated? 

Because it explains that the caged bird wants freedom and how the free bird is living the best life in the clouds and dipping his wings in the rays of the bright sun.Sometimes to people freedom is the last hope and last resort.

Identify FOUR symbols from the poem which are used to stand for bigger ideas than their literal meaning? 

The Caged has a representative of the people being trapped as the free bird can represent the leader and the mastermind behind keeping everyone in.The cage represents where they are stuck or a country then the songs of freedom represent the people trying to stop something from happening so they can be free.

What is the central idea of poem?: 

The voice is the caged bird singing for freedom that he longed for.The imagery is two birds ; one is free and wants to claim the sky and the other is trapped within real bars and bars or rage. These are two elements of the central idea

State central idea in one sentence: 

The caged bird is the person being treated how they don’t want to be treated either being imprisoned or becoming slaves of a certain country or person which now they want to be freed from their nightmare. This all highlights the differences between being trapped and being free. 

Last question: Based on what we know about Angelou’s life, what are the possible connections between Angelou’s life and her poem “Caged Bird”? 

She was the caged bird that was singing for freedom and wanted to tell the world how people treated her race.
