OUR JOURNEYS WITH FRASER
This term I went to the tamaki estuary with my class and room 7.We got on the bus and when we got there we saw Fraser,Ashley,Hazel and Ava.First we had to go in 3 groups, the objective was to pick up rubbish and put it into the bucket and tally it.Ashley is a zoo keeper and Fraser is too.Hazel works works for the city council. We looked for birds with binoculars. Ashley told us the five c's.The first one is clear, the next one is clean, the next one is current, the next one is cool and the last one is creatures. The next thing we did was water testing..My group did the water clarity, where you have to look though the pipe and the other person moves the metal with a magnet till you can't see it anymore. The highest was 65-69.Next we did the water ph. Hazel put stream water in two buckets. We had to put the ph paper into the bucket and wait for 10 seconds.when we took it out it changed colors. We compared it to the box and it was 7.7 means fair.Next we tried to find creatures with magnifying glasses. We had to see if our water was good, bad or fair.We saw that it was bad.Next we had to go back to school to get ready to go home.We thanked Fraser and his team and went back.
I am Year 7 learner at Ruapotaka School in Auckland, New Zealand. I am in Room 7 and my teacher is Mr Nevalagi.
